The Leo Club Program provides Young People between 12 and 28 the chance to gain essential Life Skills of Leadership, Experience and Opportunity whilst Serving their Communities in a Positive way, making New Friends and having Lots of Fun!!
A Leo Club is formed and operated under the guidance of a sponsoring Lion club. The Leo clubs in the British Isles and Ireland can now be split into School Based Clubs (12-18yrs of age) and Community Clubs (14-28yrs). Whilst we all share the same name and strive to a common goal, helping others, we also have very distinct differences.
Leos are a group of dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic young people allowing it's members to help others and raise money by giving up a little of their time. The overall scope of Leos allows members to experience and enjoy meeting others and gaining new friends whilst sharing a common interests and goal. Leos encourages young people to gain confidence and experience by having responsible fun with a purpose.
LEOs not only stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity but Let's Enjoy Ourselves as well, and the Leos of the British Isles and Ireland make both these principles work to the fullest.
Today's International Leo Club Program began with a Single Club at Abington High School. Pennsylvania, USA, organized in 1957 by the Glenside Lions Club. The First Leo Club in Great Britain and Ireland was formed at xxxxx in 19xx. In Great Britain and Ireland there are currently 34 Leo Clubs registered with Lions Clubs International.
Leos are the future of our Organisation and when they graduate from Leos are encouraged to continue their Service through the Leo to Lion Program.
Our 2011/12 International President Wing-Kun Tam believes that: "Leos are the Future of our Family and therefore they Form a Vital Branch of our Family Tree". It is time to elevate the significance of "Leos within our Family of Service."
